Pioneer's introduces the DVR - A05, fifth generation DVD writable. Makes the next leap to a faster writing DVD. No longer at 1x or 2x long awaiting write times. Now for under three hundred dollars you can own a 4x machine. This speed translates into approximately 15 minutes to fully record a high - speed 4.7 GB DVD - R disc. Most DVD writes also include writing to CD as well, this one does too. You can write to a single write CD at speeds of 16x and a rewrite CD at 8x. The software is by Roxi and is "Easy CD Creator 5.3 for the basic of data recording. This is an other option to back up any kind of information on your hard drive. 

The 4X DVD - R recording Using Roxi writing software bundled with the drive, the DVR-A05 also offers two - minute quick formatting for DVD - RW data discs, that allows for finished DVD - RW discs to be unfinalized for writing additional data files. A DVD authoring tool and DVD/CD data recording application are also included with the drive So you can practice a blank 4X DVD - R and 2X DVD - RW discs is included.

DVD blank disc are priced not yet as good as black CDs however at under ten dollars that is not bad. About three years ago one single sided DVD writable would have set you back roughly sixty dollars and you would not want to fail with one of those.

DVD writers are more reliable and have better software to back them up. I personally hope to see faster DVD players come onto the market sooner so that we can enjoy faster burning times like we do with a 52x CD - R unit. The price is much better today than it was about three years ago. Back than a DVD 1x writer could be yours for one thousand dollars or more.
